Cancellation Policy

Flexible & Stress-Free

With thoughtful consideration, we have revised our cancellation policies to reflect our dedication to providing a stress-free booking, planning, and travel experience for our guests. Our revised policies are flexible and forgiving, so you can book with confidence.

Cancellations of Half Day, Full Day, & Multi Day Camping Trips

For all tours without a water taxi (Resurrection Bay Half Day Tours and Caines Head Day Trips), guests will receive a full refund for cancellations made more than 1 week prior to your trip date (minus a $10 per person booking fee). Within 1 week, your trip fees are nonrefundable.

For all tours with a water taxi (Fox Island Day Trips, Aialik Glacier Day Trips, and all Multi Day Camping Trips), cancellation fees are as follows:

  • If you cancel more than 30 days prior to your scheduled trip, we will refund you in full (minus a $10 per person booking fee for day trips and a $25 per person booking fee for multi-day trips).
  • If you cancel 15-30 days prior to your scheduled trip, we will charge the card on file 20% of the total invoice.

  • If you cancel 8-14 days prior to your scheduled trip, we will charge the card on file 50% of the total invoice.

  • If you cancel within 7 days of your scheduled trip, we will charge the card on file the entire amount of your invoice.

*Full refunds include: trip fees, add ons, and taxes & fees, minus $10 per person booking fees for all half & full day trips & $25 per person booking fees for multi-day trips*

Cancellations of Mothership Trips

At the time of booking, a 50% deposit is required to secure your Mothership Trip. For all Mothership trips, guests will receive a full refund for cancellations made prior to April 1st. After April 1, guests will receive a 90% refund for all cancellations made at least 1 month prior to your trip date. Within 1 month of your trip date, guests will receive a 50% refund for all cancellations made at least 2 weeks prior to your trip date. Any cancellations made within 2 weeks of your trip date will incur full charges.

Mothership trips involve more logistics and limited availability, so while our Mothership refund policy is generous, it reflects these limitations.

Cancellations by Kayak Adventures Worldwide

Although we rarely cancel trips, we reserve the right to cancel a trip for any reason. This includes too few participants, weather, logistical problems, or circumstances which make the operation of the trip inadvisable.

Cancellations are at the discretion of the KAW guide and office manager.  If for any reason, these individuals decide that the trip would be unsafe or not possible as planned, they may cancel at any time. If a water taxi or other operator is involved, this cancellation may be their decision as well.

We collect a $10/person non-refundable booking fee for all half & full day trips, and a $25/person booking fee for multi-day trips. Whether you cancel or we do, the booking fee is non-refundable. Not charging you for your trip will be the limit of our liability (subject to our cancellation policy). We will not be responsible for any expenses incurred by you in preparing for the trip including non-refundable or penalty-carrying airline tickets, special clothing, visa or passport fees, or other trip-related expenses.

Alaskan Weather

Our trips run rain or shine! This is a coastal rainforest and we see a lot of rainy days. Weather cancellations are rare and made only when conditions are considered unsafe for paddling. We can do our best to plan and prepare, but life is not always predictable in Alaska. Please remember that these are outdoor activities, and Mother Nature is always the one in charge.

Trips may be delayed or cancelled due to rough seas or strong winds. We recommend leaving extra days both before and after your scheduled trip in case the weather does not cooperate. For day trips, it’s nice to have the flexibility to re-schedule if the seas are too rough (subject to water taxi availability). For multi-day camping trips, it’s good to have the flexibility to delay, and it’s smart to have extra time in case the water taxi cannot make the scheduled pick-up due to sea conditions (rare but certainly possible).

If your trip has a delayed start time or an early pick-up time due to weather, but the trip still runs on the dates planned, there will be no refund or pro-rated cost. We do not cancel our trips solely on account of rain, so please be prepared for that. We will kayak in all weather (rain or shine), as long as the conditions are safe.

We are a small, locally-owned Alaskan company with only 100 days a year to run our trips, and are unable to issue refunds for last minute cancellations as it will simply be too late for us to fill the spaces that we have set aside for you. Please read our cancellation policy thoroughly and give us a shout with any questions.
