An Affordable Sea Kayaking Adventure in Kenai Fjords National Park
Our guided rental trips are geared toward people who are traveling with their own camping equipment, but need the paddling and safety gear, and the guide. All of our prices include the water taxi, fuel surcharges/fees, and the kayaking costs. Tax and gratuity are your only additional charges, unless you need to rent some gear items from us. Trips of any length are possible, so just give us a call and we can most likely set up just what you’d like!
For guided rental trips, you are expected to provide: a tent with an enclosed vestibule and solid rain fly, a synthetic sleeping bag, a sleeping pad, all cooking equipment/fuel/food, dry bags, water filter & bladder, and appropriate rain gear, clothing, and footwear. You will be furnished with a complete packing list when you book the trip.
All of our multi-day trips have a pre-trip meeting at our kayak shop (328 3rd Avenue) at 7 pm the night before your trip. You’ll meet with your guide to discuss itinerary, trip goals, gear, and field protocols.
This cost will remain constant, no matter how many people are on the trip. Our group minimum is 2 people, and our maximum is 6. We can bump this cap by adding another guide, if you have a large group that would like to book together.

More Tour Info
We wait to build out exact itineraries two days before the trip, as local weather will dictate where the best paddling is during your trip. Using your pre-trip forms, we will build out an itinerary that aligns with your groups adventure goals while exploring the highlights of Aialik Bay or Northwestern Fjord. Some popular paddling destinations in Aialik include: Aialik Glacier, Pederson Lagoon & Glacier, Abra Cove, Holgate Arm & Glacier, Quicksand Cove, and Coleman Bay. In Northwestern, we will plan to visit: Northwestern Glacier, Ojive Glacier, Anchor Glacier, and Southwestern Glacier.
We will meet for the mandatory pre-trip meeting the night before your trip at 7pm. Then next morning, we will meet at the shop at 7am and head to the small boat harbor to meet the water taxi. We’ll ride the water taxi out to Kenai Fjords National Park, and they’ll drop you (and your guide) at our starting beach. From there, we will pack our gear in the boats, paddle, camp and explore along the coastline each day. The water taxi will return to meet us at our pick-up beach on the last day, and bring us home! We are typically back in Seward between 5-6pm
- Water Taxi
We’ve been fortunate to work with our local water taxi, Weather Permitting, for over 10 years! Their captains are the most experienced in Seward and their main vessel, the Weather or Knot, comfortably fits up to 18 guests. The Weather or Knot was designed with passenger comfort in mind. Its catamaran hull provides a balanced, smooth ride & is perfect for coastal Alaska. Sit indoors and enjoy a cup of coffee/tea, or lounge on the covered back deck’s bench. We are incredibly grateful to be working with this experienced, professional water taxi!
- What Should I Wear?
For these trips, we ask you to wear synthetic layers of clothing – because cotton and jeans get really cold if they get wet. We also ask that you bring a raincoat and rain pants, since this is a coastal rainforest! We have rain gear for rent at our shop, should you need it.
Your feet might get wet when launching or landing, so please bring footwear that will keep you warm, that you’re comfortable walking in, and that you don’t mind potentially getting a bit wet (water sandals, running shoes, hiking boots, are all fine options).
If it seems like a cold day, we provide pogies (neoprene mitts for your hands while kayaking) which will keep your hands much warmer and more comfortable while you’re out there. You’ll also want to be sure to have your own bottle of water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
If you do not have your own waterproof rain jackets and rain pants, we happily rent them at the kayak shop. Rain jacket rentals are $10.00 each, and rain pant rentals are also $10.00 each.
