Why Choose Us

Seward, Alaska is the gateway to Kenai Fjords National Park, a breathtaking setting for viewing abundant coastal and ocean wildlife, as well as the dynamics of active glaciers. It is also the site of Alaska's top maritime ecology research, aquaculture development, and a crossroads for Alaskan Native culture, art, and history. As a kayak tour operator in Seward, we continually draw on the rich cultural and informational resources in our community to enrich our clients' kayaking experience.

Alaska is, relatively speaking, one of the world's last untouched places. Glaciers still flow like rivers through the mountains, carving out deep and impressive paths as they go. Mountain goats dot the hillside and black bears wander the beaches. Whales abound in these frigid seas, feeding in the nutrient-rich waters and raising their young. There is a thriving intertidal zone - colorful displays of seaweeds, blue mussels, sea stars, chitons, and many other creatures. Struggling populations of harbor seals and stellar sea lions seek refuge here, drawing researchers from around the country who are seeking the reason for their decline. Due to the abundance and variety of wildlife, and the pristine conditions in which they still thrive, Seward has become a hub for research and education.

This is the perfect setting for continuing education about the eco-system around us... and kayaking is the perfect forum for experiential education. Get out in a boat and learn about the area! Practice techniques to preserve our environment, and see the effects of your efforts. Our guides are all trained in Leave-No-Trace practices, and believe in our company's mission and desire to do our best in the field.  All our guides train for over a month in the spring before running even our shortest half-day trip.  They all hold Wilderness First Responder certifications, and run conservative, educational kayak trips. We have cell phones that go out on our trips in Resurrection Bay, and two satellite phones for trips in the fjords.  In addition, every trip carries a marine radio, extensive repair kit, extensive first aid kit, and many other safety/survival/prevention items.  Please call us and ask about our policies and practices. We'd love to tell you all about it.  Compare our training and standards to other local kayak shops.....

We want to share this wonderful place with you, and help keep it thriving for generations to come. Call us, and learn how to be a part of this exciting endeavor.

Thanks - and we hope to see you soon!!
