GETTING TO SEWARD:

There are many ways to get to Seward, and here we'll list a few of the most common methods, with links to more information.  Please feel free to shout if you're having trouble with logisitics and need some advice!

Rent a car:
Guests have told us that no rental cars are cheap, and the best way to find one is through one of the internet travel sites like expedia, kayak, travelocity, etc.  There is one car rental place in Seward and it's Hertz:  224.4378.  I believe there are many rental places in Anchorage.

Take the train:
Check out the website for the Alaska Railroad.  The train ride is a bit longer than the drive, but has stunning scenery along the way - and is a great way to go if you don't want to deal with a car while in town.

Head to this site for more information:  http://www.akrr.com

Hop on a bus:
There are a few companies that provide bus rides to / from Seward.  They all offer different schedules and pricing - so take a look at them all to find out which one matches your itinerary best.

GETTING AROUND IN SEWARD:

If you rent a car, you'll be able to zoom around Seward quite easily.  It's a small town, and everything is relatively close together.

If you come in on the train, you'll arrive at the train station near the small boat harbor.  It's probably a 5 minute walk to the harbor from the station, and a 15-20 minute walk to downtown from the station.

Once you're in downtown Seward or the harbor area, you can pretty much walk anywhere.  Downtown and the harbor are about a 10-15 walk apart, and there are lots of restaurants, bars, and shops between the two.

There's a free shuttle in town now (a large school bus) that will operate daily from 8am - 6pm in the summer.  It will run between the harbor and downtown.

If you'd like to head out to Exit Glacier while you're in town, and don't have a car, you can catch a shuttle ride from Exit Glacier Guides.  They're located in the "Train Wreck" which is located by the small boat harbor.

You can easily catch a taxi to move around town, or to access restaurants and B&B's located outside of town. They're not too expensive, and they're usually pretty prompt and easy to reach.  Here are a few of the local companies you can call:

PJ's Taxi:  224.5555

Glacier Taxi:  224.5678

Frontier Taxi:  224.6700

Seward Cab Company:  224.2000
