Alaska Multi-Day Kayak Trips

We offer a variety of multi-day options for those of you looking for a longer experience on the water.  We're sure we can find an option that will work for you.  We will book most multi-day trips with two or more people... and we can usually arrange the trip for the dates you want.  Please give us a call to see what we can do!

The weather here CAN BE very cold and wet.  If you are considering a multi-day trip in the fjords and have any hesitation whatsoever about camping in a potentially cold, wet environment... then our MOTHERSHIP TRIP is definitely the one to do!!  Having a warm, dry home base that can move you from one highlight to another easily makes for our most comfortable and extensive experience.  Especially on a longer trip...  4 or more days... you can cover so much more ground using the mothership than you can by changing camp each day!  Cruise in style with Captain Mike and your kayak guide, enjoy delicious meals, and laugh at the cold rain falling down while you sip hot tea and get cozy in the mothership.

Our Best Multi-Day Option...  THE ULTIMATE WAY TO EXPERIENCE KENAI FJORDS!

There are two different kinds of camping trips:  Guided Rental, and Fully Outfitted.  We describe them in more detail on their relative pages, but as an overview... guided rental trips are designed for people who are traveling with all their own camping gear, cooking gear, stove, fuel, food, drybags, etc.  We provide the paddling gear, safety gear, and the guide.  Fully outfitted trips are geared toward people who are traveling lighter and need to use our camping equipment.  All camping gear, cooking gear, food, paddling gear, safety gear, and the guide are included in our fully outfitted trips.  The only exception is that we ask you to bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping pad on all of our trips.

We use double kayaks on our multi-day trips.  For camping-style trips that require the transportation of gear in the kayaks, we use large fiberglass doubles.

We require participants to bring a synthetic sleeping bag on all trips (except for the Aialik Overnight and Mothership trips, for which any sleeping bag is acceptable).  Given all the surrounding elements, we won't take the risk of a down bag getting wet.  We also highly recommend the use of an inflatable sleeping pad, since we do camp on rocky beaches in the fjords.  We rent these items, and many others, should you need them - and we'll furnish you with a complete packing list upon completion of your booking.

We will not allow you into the backcountry with cotton or jeans.  If these get wet, you'll be really cold... and that can be dangerous in the backcountry.  You will want to have synthetic layers of clothing, as well as a rain coat and rain pants.

You are welcome to bring your own alcohol on your trip, but we do have guidelines we ask you to follow.  We will communicated these at the time of booking and / or the pretrip meeting.

All of our multi-day trips will have a pretrip meeting at our kayak shop (328 3rd Avenue), in downtown Seward, at 7pm the night before the trip.  We require a liability waiver and a registration form to be completed and submitted for each participant, immediately after booking.  We must have these forms well before the pretrip meeting.  A trip code to access packing lists and paperwork will be given at the time of booking.

Our multi-day trips take you into remote Alaskan wilderness.  It can take hours or days to get help when in the field, so we try to be conservative in our travels and activities.  If you have any medical concerns, please discuss them with your doctor prior to the trip.  We will ask for medical information so that we can be aware of medical concerns before we leave, but it is up to your doctor... not us... to determine if you are fit to head into the remote wilderness for kayaking.  All of our guides are Wilderness First Responders, and will do their best to handle any situation that should arise, but it is your choice to enter the remote wilderness and accept the risks that accompany the adventure.

FAMILIES:
If you're traveling with children under the age of 14, we'll do a custom family trip for you.  You need to pay at least a 3-person minimum, but otherwise it's the same cost as the regular trip, and we'll provide a guide just for your group.  This is for safety reasons, speed, and enjoyment of the trip.  Often children have different needs on a trip like this, and we want to be able to cater to those needs and provide a positive experience.  We also have two triple kayaks that we can use for younger children (all participants have to be 6 years or older) and odd numbers.
We also will need to consider the adult-to-child ratio for family trips, and will need to be sure we have at least one adult in every boat.
